Secret Service director to speak at SBU on Constitution Day

Public invited to Chapel on Sept. 17

BOLIVAR, Mo. — Retired United States Marine Corps Gen. Randolph “Tex” Alles, current director of the U.S. Secret Service, will speak during the Chapel service at 10 a.m., Monday, Sept. 17, in Pike Auditorium at Southwest Baptist University.

Gen. Alles was invited to speak at SBU on Sept. 17 in observance of Constitution Day, which became a national observance in 2004. The U.S. Constitution was signed on Sept. 17, 1787.

“We’re honored to host General Alles as our Constitution Day speaker,” said Dr. Coyle Neal, associate professor of political science. “His service to the church and to the country should be a model for all of us.”

Gen. Alles served in the Marine Corps for 35 years, retiring in 2011 as a Major General. He was appointed as director of the U.S. Secret Service by President Donald Trump in April 2017. Gen. Alles previously served as acting Deputy Commissioner of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency.
