Next week is a historic time for SBU as we inaugurate Eric A. Turner, Ed.D., as the 25th President of Southwest Baptist University. Events planned for the week include:
Presidential portrait unveiling — 3 p.m. Monday, April 22, in the Hutchens Library on the Bolivar campus. Dr. Turner’s portrait will hang alongside the photos of previous SBU presidents. The event also is the official kickoff for an SBU historical display from the University Archives.
Inaugural Mural ribbon-cutting ceremony — 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, on the west side of the Goodson Student Union. Commissioned by the Student Association, the mural is being completed by SBU freshman Lexi Haley and highlights various landmarks on campus and embodies SBU’s mission.
Presidential Inauguration Ceremony — 10 a.m. Friday, April 26, in Mabee Chapel. Students should line up along the sidewalk between the fountain and the chapel no later than 9:50 a.m. for the processional. After the processional, students will proceed to Mabee Chapel for the inauguration ceremony. Students attending the ceremony will receive 2 CLW credits.
