Let’s face it: college students are broke. What better way to find some things you may need for a cheap price then going to garage sales!
The City Wide Garage Sale was April 28, 2018 all day. The great thing about the Bolivar City Wide Garage Sale was that it was not far from SBU’s campus. Whichever way you could walk from, there was probably a garage sale nearby. For me, since I live in Leslie Hall, I just walked down to Aldrich St. and found many garage sales each with unique and great finds.
The thing I learned from going to many garage sales around Bolivar for the first time was that the people were very willing to negotiate and hospitable towards everyone. The owners hosting the garage sales were who made the day fun and exciting!
At one garage sale, there were many nice dresses each near my size, so naturally, I was excited. I ended up buying one of the dresses for $4 when it was probably valued at $40-$50. I enjoyed this dress because it made me feel powerful and feel business-ready. The owners at the garage sale were so cheerful towards me for my great find and overall brightened my day.
I am already looking forward to next year’s Bolivar City Wide Garage Sale! Be sure to mark your calendars for it when you see it happen again. You will not want to miss out on this easy, cheap way to have a nice time! Remember, you don’t know what you may find or what you’re gonna get!
