SBU’s McNeal attends Marine Corps educator workshop

BOLIVAR, Mo. — Dr. Scott McNeal, director of online learning at Southwest Baptist University, attended the Marine Corps Recruiting Command’s (MCRC) 2018 Educators and Key Leaders Workshop this summer.

Fewer than 100 educators have the opportunity each year to visit the Marine Corps Base in Quantico, Va., for an inside look at the making of a Marine officer. According to a Marine Corps news release, “The goal of the workshop is to return better-educated key influencers to their institutions and communities equipped to tell the Marine Corps story, and to spread a message of opportunity to their colleagues and students while cultivating positive relationships between officer selection officers (OSO) and themselves.”

Having attended the training, McNeal is available to assist students who are interested in Marine Corps leadership positions after graduating from SBU.

“The Marine Corps and SBU have something in common,” McNeal said. “Collectively, we are deeply committed to properrecruitment, retention and mission articulation.”

Contact McNeal at (417) 328-1499 or smcneal@SBUniv.edu for more information.
