Poem | A New Friend

By Ethan Galindo

September 20, 2018

I sit in class bored and numb

Till offered a piece of gum

A silver stick gleaming bright

Gripped by nervous fingers, holding tight

I accept the gift of minty taste

A grin, a nod, a new friend in an unlikely place

A fellow soul to share burdensome class

Back to back we’ll strive to pass
