Campus | What campus improvements will be made this summer?

Announcement by Charlotte Marsche

As we make strides in improving the appearance of our campus, we are excited to announce these campus improvements that are planned for this summer:

Concrete repair work — Concrete repair that is funded by the $500,000 gift from the Sunderland Foundation will be ongoing throughout the summer and into the start of fall. This work is part of a four-year concrete repair plan for the Bolivar campus.

  • Continued concrete replacement on Andersen Drive, including the four-way stop intersection and north of Mabee Chapel, including the loading dock

  • Several sidewalks throughout campus

  • Parking lot on the south side of Gott Education

  • Repair of the brick caps at Mabee Chapel and McClelland Dining Facility

Landscaping improvements — You probably already have noticed cleaner and brighter landscaping around campus, and those improvements will continue through the summer. A significant project that is already under way is a landscaping redesign in front of Mabee Chapel that will be completed in time for commencement.

Student Union updates — Goodson Student Union will be improved with a new performance stage, additional seating, new carpeting and new lighting.

New office space for ITS — Information & Technology Services is relocating by the end of the month to new offices in the Wheeler building.

Pre-licensure BSN program space — Classrooms, offices, and an interactive simulation lab for the pre-licensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing program will be built out in the northeast corner of the Jester building. This is the space that ITS is vacating.

Tennis courts and Randolph Chapel — Fundraising is under way for resurfacing the tennis courts and renovation of Randolph Chapel and the Clement Amphitheater space outside the chapel. The tennis courts will be resurfaced in June, and the work on Randolph Chapel likely will be completed during the fall semester.
