Throughout the month of April, Southwest Baptist University has recognized Sexual Assault Awareness month. SBU Safety and Security provided self-defense classes and Sexual Harassment Assault and Rape Prevention seminars as a student resource. The counseling staff and students at SBU have promoted the Green Dot bystander intervention program through chapel, outside Mellers dining hall, and on the baseball field. On April 25th, students and faculty alike wore jeans to represent denim day and had a denim drive where they gathered jeans for the House of Hope. April 30th, as a final event to raise awareness, Student Life Agents is partnering with One in Four to show the documentary The Hunting Ground. Students are encouraged to come and stay after for a panel discussion with SBU counselor Dr. Debbie Walker, Vice President for Student Development Dr. Rob Harris, former Director of Human Resources Gina Payne. The events are aimed to spread awareness and teaching SBU students about sexual assault. The campaign highlighted #NOMORE as part of the social media initiative.
